I missed the boat on this one, but I think I've decided: my bulletproof kink is 'once lovers, now bitter enemies.' With a strong preference for the division having arisen from ideological/theological differences.

I suspect this is because, down deep, I am a hopeless romantic. No, hold on. Just think about it. How strong would Ethan's love for Giles have to be to not only survive, but still matter so much after all this time? How fundamentally important would Clark have to be to Lex for him to always, always regard him as central in his life, even as he shifted from friend to hated rival? That's the love that lasts forever, man. One might even dare to say it's the love of soulmates, if even thinking about the word didn't give me the heaves.

Plus, you just get a whole lot more drama that way.

I feel it is important to record for posterity that the Spike has decided that the official, government-approved French term for 'fangirl' would be 'fille d'hommage qui fait les squeeageusements.'

Last night, I read a story that set new standards for fanfic badness (as written by an adult, of course). It featured characterization massacre for the purposes of setting up an unbelievable pairing, a prose style that resembled a transcription of a breathless narration of the events of the story by a three-year-old (though God forbid a three-year-old get within a mile of the story), sexual gymnastics that went beyond "I don't think that's probable" to "Have you ever actually seen a naked person? Or read about one?", and, of course, incest/rape as merely a confused expression of feeling that brings the two involved closer together.

The most amazing thing? This story accomplished it all in *8K*. Not 8,000 words--8K of memory. Probably less than 2000 words.

Who says you can't accomplish anything in fanfic?

I find this cap from animated Superman to be much too unintentionally hilarious. They're not exactly shy about the phallic symbolism...

(Due to their hotlink protection, you'll have to hit refresh once.)

Is it just me, or do the two guys in the car insurance "Make It All" ad look like somewhat geekier versions of David Duchovny and Joss Whedon?

For some reason, I find it tremendously amusing that the Brotherhood has been de-aged in the Evoverse, but just annoying that the X-Men are. Especially Kurt. Such a parody of himself.

Meanwhile, Quicksilver? Still horribly gay. While Wanda is cool.

I nub Superman: the Animated Series

Superman: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer?"
Lex: "Exactly. Though, in your case, I'm willing to make an exception."

Yes. In Superman's case, you keep your enemy closest. *giggles*

Anyway, as promised, all the caps I took this season are now up.

I can't believe Petit Ecoliers now come in extra-dark chocolate and no one told me!

Also, if you want to engage in a real test of your will, make up a recipe of half-sour pickles and leave them on your counter. Then, try to let them reach actual doneness before you dig in.

What I've done is moved the old blog content over to /nimrod_old/ from /blog/. They're now static files, but if you're burning to see some old post you once linked to, just replace /blog/ in the URL with /nimrod_old/.

As I thought, porting all the data and upgrading would be a gargantuan task. So, the Nimrod will be reborn! Um, shortly.
