If you want to laugh until you absolutely cannot stop, catch the Oxygen reruns of Melrose Place. It just...words cannot convey. Young girls becoming hookers, and their sensitive yet creepy johns! Scary rehab centers! Monotone reactions to tragic deaths!
I refuse to believe those clothes, and that hair, were ever in fashion, though. REFUSE.
If this show was aired now, they would slash the hell out of Matt/Mike. The sensitive gay guy always trying to save the slimy heterosexual? SEKRIT NUB.
Posted by Sarah T. at June 22, 2003 06:39 PM | TrackBack"Melrose Place" was a guilty pleasure for me, back in the day. The sheer ruthlessness and spectacular histrionics of the characters makes one think that Klingons were writing the dialogue (and the image of Klingons actually playing the roles has given me the giggles more than once when I've had a drink or two). Roger Ebert once said of a Japanese monster movie ("Infra-Man", I believe) that when movies like it were no longer made, a little light would go out in the world (he said this after describing the absurdities of the dialogue, plot, and characters in great detail, with obvious relish). One could certainly say the same of shows like "Melrose Place."
