I'm sorry, but an Aquaman-Solomon Grundy teamup *really* doesn't make my heart sing. More discriminating usage of canon villains, people!!!
ETA: Huh. I didn't realize that DC had licensed Lovecraft.

Yeah, that was my reaction too. Particularly given the prominent "TV: Y-7" rating at the beginning of the episode. I know that the rating is pretty much a laughable fiction given the content of JL, but is even watered-down HP Lovecraft something that the kiddies should be watching--even in theory? Some of those scenes were, IMO, rather disturbing material for young children to be watching.
I loved the look on Superman's face when Aquaman blustered about his survivors grieving for him and charged--it screamed "Yeah, I know you're a lot tougher than the loser from "Superfriends" who depended on rides from Wonder Woman and was useless 98% of the time--you're still waaaay out of your weight class, Aquawimp." :-)

I loved that expression, too: "I'm going to have to hit you, aren't I." In my personal superhero universe, Aquaman will *never* get any respect, Capt. Hook hand or no.
